Madrid’s City Council has introduced and adopted the clarifications requested by the Government of Madrid for approving the project on 25 March.
The mayor, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, emphasised that the project will help ensure that Madrid has a bright future.

Madrid’s City Council has given today a fresh impulse to Madrid Nuevo Norte. The meeting of the municipal plenary has adopted and introduced the clarifications requested by the Government of Madrid for approving the project on 25 March.
Madrid’s mayor, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, emphasised that Madrid Nuevo Norte shows that “Madrid has a bright future ahead”, despite the pandemic situation, that we “yet to overcome”. Meanwhile, Begoña Villacís has described this milestone as “excellent news for Madrid”, stressing the fast pace at which it has been delivered. “Madrid Nuevo Norte will soon be a reality”, said Villacís, while highlighting the number of jobs that would be created by the project, and the importance of closing “the open wound in northern Madrid”.
Mariano Fuentes, City Council Delegate for Urban Development, stated that the city government has continued to back this project after the approval, delivering further improvements within an extremely tight deadline. The Delegate mentioned that this effort is more important “now than ever because we need projects that will allow us to take the lead in creating opportunities and employment for the city”.
